The Women’s March movement started in 2017 and saw millions around the world marching in support of women’s rights. Every year since, Women’s March Winnipeg has held a yearly demonstration at the Legislative grounds. With COVID-19 restrictions in place this year, organizers moved the event online. Women’s March Winnipeg highlighted how the pandemic has disproportionately affected women in the workplace and at home. It also addressed the rise in gender and race-based violence and called on the government to take action. Multimedia reporter Iris Dyck has the story.
