Online voting for executive and board positions now open

The Red River College Students’ Association is holding elections for its executive and board positions this week and they’re encouraging all RRC students to cast their votes.
The voting is online this year, and students can head to the RRCSA website and use their HUB login to elect next year’s leadership for the SA. Polls close at 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 25 with the winners being announced the following day at noon.
There are two candidates running for SA president. One is Avery Halldorson, the current VP Academic and a Business Administration student.
“I want to improve the SA from within and help the others in the VP positions reach their full potential as I believe I did,” said Halldorson in her positioning statement.
Halldorson said she wants to focus on mental health, add more executive-run events, and get students more engaged with the SA.
Juliana Samking is also running for SA president and is currently in the Business Administration program.
In her positioning statement, Samking said she will add more mental health support, oppose tuition increases, and create more co-op spaces on campuses.
“I’ve always had a heart to advocate for my fellow students,” said Samking. “Being a part of the Red River College community and promoting inclusivity means a lot to me.”
The other executive and board candidates are running unopposed, so students will have the option to confirm or reject their candidacy on the ballot.
The full list of candidates, their statements, and speeches is available on the SA’s website.
Any RRC student with a HUB account can vote, including full-time, part-time, international, apprenticeship, and satellite campus students.
The candidates chosen in this week’s election will take over from current SA president Yash Chopra and the rest of the executive team on May 3.
