RRC Polytech is in the early stages of possibility of building new student housing at the Notre Dame Campus (NDC).
The college said in an email statement they are still in the early pre-design phase and are working with a consultant to see what student housing could look like at NDC.
They said no official decisions about the potential housing project have been made.
The college posted a request to online tendering service MERX on Jan. 11 looking to contract a consultant to do pre-design planning for the project.
The request does not state the start and end dates of the project, or name specifics about the number of units that will be. available.
RRC Polytech currently has 102 spaces for students at the Patterson GlobalFoods Institute in the Exchange District but does not offer housing at any of its other locations.
While campus housing is limited, the school partners with organizations like Polar Trails and Safe SpacesShared to connect students with off campus living options.
The Red River College Students’ Association (RRCSA) is also looking at purchasing a $2.45 million building on 310 Ross Avenue to convert into student housing.
Between Mar. 2 to 5, students voted “yes” or “no” in a referendum to paying $25 more in student fees to support the project.
In the referendum, 844 students voted in favour of the project while 333 voted against.
The RRCSA told The Projector they are trying to finish the development by the end of 2029.
