Intramurals
RRC’s intramural program will continue in the New Year. In January, the college will be organizing floor hockey and 3 vs. 3 basketball. Floor hockey starts on January 20 and runs until February 24. The games will take place in the south gym at the Notre Dame Campus every Wednesday from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Basketball begins on March 9 and runs until April 13. These games will also take place on Wednesdays from 12:00-1:00 p.m., but they will be played in the north gym. To register, go to blogs.rrc.ca and print the registration form. You can then bring the form to either The Ox in the Notre Dame Campus or The Mercantile in the Exchange District Campus.
WWE tour
The WWE Live Holiday Tour will be stopping in Winnipeg on Sunday, December 20. The wrestling event will take place at the MTS Centre at 5:00 p.m. Some of the wrestlers competing in the event include Roman Reigns, Sheamus, Kane, Bray Wyatt, and Dean Ambrose. Tickets start at $15, and they can be purchased from ticketmaster.ca, by calling 1-855- 985-5000, or at the MTS Centre Box Office. The only other Canadian stop on the tour is Toronto.
Facebook photos
The motivation behind uploading holiday pictures to Facebook might go beyond wanting to share information with friends, a new study suggests. The study, conducted by The Happiness Research Institute, found that feelings of unfulfillment, jealousy and self-importance were the main reasons for Facebook posts. This finding comes on the heels of a study demonstrating the positive effects of Facebook abstinence. The Happiness Research Institute asked half the people in their study to stop using the social media site for a week. These people showed higher levels of life satisfaction, social activity, and concentration.
